Our CSA includes a dozen fresh eggs in their twice monthly deliveries and (for better or worse) we don’t eat a lot of eggs during the week, so the weekend is our chance to catch up.

We started with simple fried or scrambled eggs (either quick or slow, either method ideally resulting in soft, custardy eggs). However, I have always been a fan of the breakfast sandwich (confession: McDonald’s Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit is a road trip favorite) and wanted to recreate them at home. We had English muffins, smoked Gouda, bacon, eggs…everything needed for a tasty breakfast sandwich. So in the last few months we’ve veered to the handheld breakfast making variations with different cheeses, either frying (being sure to place the yolk so it is directly against the top piece of bread so when you squish everything together it results in a tasty yolk “sauce” that absorbs into the top) or, more recently, scrambling the egg, and serving it atop a toasted, cheesed English muffin.

The scrambling approach I was always a bit leery of as I could never figure out the right approach to get a non-falling-apart egg, until I came across the Bodega-Style Egg on Food52. It really is “stupidly easy.” Crack your egg(s) mix with some salt and pepper, pour in your pan, add cheese (if desired), and leave them be until they’re cooked, then fold so they fit on your bread and serve. To be honest, I don’t leave them completely alone, I will swirl the pan so that the eggs are spread out and as thin as possible but no shaking, stirring or scraping is required. Top it with a bit of Sriracha or other hot sauce, and you have a great, full flavored, and super easy, breakfast (or lunch, or dinner).

New year, new consolidated blog(s) https://archive.tiffanyb.net/2015/01/04/new-year-new-consolidated-blogs/ Sun, 04 Jan 2015 22:46:07 +0000 http://archive.tiffanyb.net/?p=768 So you may have been redirected here from one of my old blog sites…I decided after a year of neglect in 2014 and prior years of sporadic blogging on both my personal and tech blogs, as well as maintaining a personal website, that it was time to just consolidate everything into one spot. So here it is: tiffanyb.net.

I’ve been retroactively posting all day today so there is much more “going on” in 2014 now that when I started yesterday. Jeremy and I had talked about wanting to note which recipes we try out of our shared Evernote folder, so that combined with inspiration from Melissa McKelvey‘s renewed food blogging, and I’ve decided to post a lot more this year. Whenever I photograph a dish we’ve made and I have a recipe it will (hopefully) make it up on to this blog, more than anything just for my own sanity so I’m not searching back through my browser history trying to figure out which recipe I used for a given dish (hello Thanksgiving. Happens. Every. Year.). I’m always taking photos of food but don’t feel like it all needs to go on Instagram, so instead it will go here where, if nothing else, I can remember what I had for dinner one night…and if you, dear reader, are inspired or intrigued, then that’s even better!

This will also be the spot where I share the “work” side of me…articles I’ve enjoyed, presentations I’ve given, random thoughts on social media things, all that will be going here too.

So here’s to a new year!

Hello world! https://archive.tiffanyb.net/2011/04/05/hello-world-2-2/ Tue, 05 Apr 2011 17:02:58 +0000 http://tlbtechentries.wordpress.com/?p=1
Hello World Toast by oskay on Flickr

hello, world by oskay on Flickr

Yes, it’s the quintessential and probably overused “first test post”, but appropriate for a technically inclined blog, don’t you think? 😉

I already have a personal blog where I post stuff (albeit, sporadically) on my travels, photography, and food, but I wanted a central place to write down all the random tidbits I’ve found useful in my work as a Web Programmer at the College of William & Mary, as well as a place to share articles from around the web that I think are useful in some way or another related to web development, social media, higher ed, and mobile apps.

If there’s something you’d like to see here or find out more info on, please let me know!

Here we go…
